Macucu is an Indigenous community on the Vaupés River in the south-east of Colombia, where the Kotiria people live. Missioneering and other experiences of violence have led to the fact that in Macucu there remains neither a traditional longhouse nor dance ornaments to continue traditions and pass on the knowledge of ancestors. in 2014 Orlando Villegas from Macucu and his wife Diana Guzmán travelled to the Ethnologisches Museum in Berlin for the first time and there encountered things of their ancestors, which they mainly knew from stories. These meetings led to the decision to build a new longhouse in Macucu and to invite the relatives from the surrounding communities to a big opening party.
